Neuroanatomical Correlates of Religiosity and Spirituality

A study that has just come out shows an association between thicker outer brains in people who rate religion and spirituality as important, and suggests a lower predisposition to depression in those people. I'm not sure I buy it, as the thicker brain could be due to many other factors, and it doesn't identify any causes, but it's interesting anyway: http://archpsyc.jamanetwork.com/article.aspx?articleid=1792140
